New live portrait drawing event, commissioned by Essentiel Antwerp for the ESSENTIEL ANTWERP X DESIGNERS AGAINST AIDS Collection Private Launch Party.
The party was held at the chique pop–up space A–TOWER in Antwerp and my task was to capture the essence of invited personalities including members of press and celebrities from Belgium and around. The drawing performance itself generated a great deal of excitement, and the brave ones who stroke a pose will receive the original drawing as a truly unique and exclusive keepsake — courtesy of ESSENTIEL ANTWERP and DESIGNERS AGAINST AIDS.
Beauty Overdose Exhibition

Other participating artists include Dino Dinco, Adam Munro, Vincent Gagliostro, Anne–Mie Van Kerckhove, and many more..
Live Portrait Drawing Event, RISD Museum, Todd Oldham All of Everything Exhibition Dance Party
Dear viewers,
I was recently commissioned by RISD Museum to do a live portrait drawing event at its Todd Oldham, All of Everything Exhibition Dance Party.
The assignment - a huge success by the way, according to the museum and guests - included creating a whopping 24 live portrait drawings of selected fashionable VIP guests and sponsors in the course of the few hours that the party lasted! For those only watching I added an extra bit of glitter and sparkle to add to the feeling of glamour. Each finished drawing was put on a display and then on a rack to dry overnight, after which the selected guests could easily pick up their signed and packaged portraits.
Below are a few images from the event and resulting drawings - a big thank to you all who sent me these awesome photos!
If you are interested in having me draw at one of your upcoming events or shows or would like to discuss other possibilities of working together, please get in touch!
Warm regards,
Jarno

New Nordic Fashion Illustration Vol.2 Exhibition Opening Photos
A few photos from the opening of the New Nordic Fashion Illustration Vol. 2 exhibition opening at the Estonian Museum of Applied Art and Design. If you happen to be in the area I really recommend visiting the exhibition. It is really well done, very impactful and provides a very nice look of the many types and styles of contemporary fashion illustration. For me this was also an amazing opportunity to meet my fashion illustrator colleagues whose work I have been following for years, but didn't know personally. Everyone was really friendly and enthusiastic to connect with each other - almost like a family getting together after a long time!

RISD Apparel Department Live Illustration Demo
A video of my recent lecture and live fashion illustration demo at RISD Apparel Department including a few of the resulting live illustrations. What a fun and energetic event and talented students! I never before had to explain how I create my live illustrations to an audience while doing it at the same time and it was great! I learned a great deal myself as well, because this made me really think about what I'm doing and articulate all the split second decisions that are natural to me, but new to the students. To be continued for sure!

Sketching the street style at Brown University Part 2
Just got these great photos of me sketching at Brown University taken by Brown Daily Herald photographer Timothy Mueller-Harder.
Brown University Street Style
Live drawing capturing a street style look at Brown University. This is part of a new personal project in which I document the student street style in major universities starting from my new home town Providence, RI.
Sketching at RISD Museum Textiles Department
Yesterday I had a wonderful opportunity to sketch from a few pieces at the RISD Museum Textiles Department in Providence, Rhode Island. Materials used were lead pencil, pastels and make-up (YSL, Chanel) on 11x14" Canson Mix Media 160g paper.
